Abstract
Moon and Wiener1) had demonstrated new blood factor "Cl" with anti-Cl lectin prepared from extracts of seeds of korean Clerodendron trichotomum Thunberg by absorption of selected human red blood cells. The purpose of this papers is to study on the distribution of Cl type in animal blood and to know the possibility to prepare anti-Cl lectin by absorption of animal red blood cell too. Therefore, agglutinations of extract of korean Clerodendrou trichotomum Thunberg and anti-Cl lectin to various animal red blood cells such as rabbit, mouse, rat, guinea pig, chicken, dog, hog, bovine, goat, sheep, horse and cat were carried out. Then, absorption by animal red blood cells and agglutination inhibition by various sugars were performed, and the results can be summarized as follows; Animal red blood cells such as rabbit, rat, chicken, hog, horse and cat were agglutinated by Clerodendron extract. And anti-Cl lectin agglutinated the red blood cells of rat, chicken, hog, horse and cat. By absorption of Clerodendron extract with the selected red blood cells of chicken, anti-Cl lectin can be also prepared as with human red cells.Agglutination activities of extract of Clerodendron to horse red blood cells was inhibited by all of the used sugars already mentioned in the materials, but to rabbit and chicken was not by all of the used sugars, And the agglutination activities of Clerodendron extract to red blood cells of rat, hog and cat were not by lactose and D-galactose
