Open Injury of the Heart

Abstract
Traumatic heart disease is aften regarded as an uncommon heart disease. However, cardiac trauma is one of the leading causes of death in developed countries. Cardiac traumas are classified as penetrating and nonpenetr ating injuries. The types of injuries are contusion, laceration, rupture, jarring, aneurysm, A-V fistula, pericarditis, thrombosis, and embolism. The injuries may occur in the myocardium, pericardium, endocardium, coronary arteries, and aorta. This review was discussed on the mechanism, types of injury, diagnosis, and significance of medicolegal aspects of the cardiac traumas.
