Abstract
The extracts of ground seeds of Korean Alisma plantago L. (APL) were prepared in the usual manner, thereafter the agglutination test with various animal blood and the agglutination inhibition test on mouse red blood cells (RBC) with human sera, whole blood, and washed RBC were carried out. The results were as follows: 1. APL were reacted on mouse RBC as panphytagglutinin. 2. Panphytagglutinating activity of APL on mouse RBC was inhibited by certain human sera (APL-inhibitor), while it was not inhibited by others (APL-noninhibitor). 3. There was no relation to the distribution of APL-inhibitor among ABO blood groups. The distribution of APL-inhibitor was 41% and APL-noninhibitor was 59%. 4. Panphytagglutinating activity of APL on mouse RBC was not inhibited by human washed RBC.
