Abstract |
The extracts of leaves of the Korean Solanum tunberosum L. (Solanum extracts) were prepared as the usual method2-8) and were carried out agglutination with human red cells, agglutination titration, agglutination inhibition with human saliva and various sugar solutions, absorption with human red blood cells and sera.
And demonstrated that the certain red cells were apparently agglutinated by absorbed Solanum extracts with human sera while it was failed to agglutinate other red cells. Since such differences in reactivity were observed also among red cells of group O, it was apparent that the blood factor being detected by the absorbed Solanum extracts, therefore, designated as ab.S (+) type (absorbed Solanum positive type) of which the red cells gave marked agglutination with the absorbed Solanum extracts and the red cells failed to agglutinate were ab.S (?) type (absorbed Solanum negative type).
In the experiment on a series of 1,421 specimens of red blood cells observed that the frequency of ab.S (+) type was 5% (68), ab.S (-) type was 95% (1,353), and there were no differences in the distribution of ab.S type between male and female, among ABO blood groups and healthy or sick persons. |
