Postmortem Examination of the Bodies Found in the Water
Yoon Seong Lee
Department of Forensic Medicine, College of Medicine, Seoul National University
Abstract
The determination of the cause of death of a person whose body is found in the water requires careful investigative works of the physician who is in charge of postmortem examination. Opinions as to cause and manner of death should not be derived from the inspection and the autopsy alone, but must result from a logical correlation of data regarding victim identity, circumstances, autopsy, and laboratory findings. "Tunnel vision" directed toward the body and its components results in a very unsatisfactory core investigation.
