Abstract |
Puerperal and postabortal infections pose a potentially serious threat to the mother. Infection, hemorrhage, and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy remain the three most common causes of maternal death. An accurate estimate of the incidence of postpartum and postabortal infection is difficult to determine because of the lack of uniform definitions. The risk factors, common isolated organisms, clinical findings, antibiotic therapy are reviewed. |
