Abstract |
Primary pulmonar y hypertension is a rare disease and diagnosed only when the underlying causes are undetcrmined. Pulmonary hypertension is caused largely by an increase in pulmonary vascular resistence and is most frequently chronic pulmonary obstructivc diseases, recurrent pulmonary emboli or antecedent hear t diseases. We experience and report a case of primary' pulmonary hypertension. The pulmonary changes show atherosclerosis in all the pulmonary arteries, medial hypertrophy, intimal proliferation and fi brosis and plexiform lesion. Plexiform lesion is characteristic in the histological diagnosis of primary pulmonary hypertension when there is no other associated disease, such as liver cirrhosis, tricuspid cardiac shunts and portal vein thrombosis. |
