Abstract
It has been accumulated a number of research works on Phytagglutinin(PHA) reported by many investigators. Recently, the utilization of PHA in the medical field is increasing, especially as a lectin for the blood grouping. Therefore, the extracts of ground seeds of Korean Caragana Chamlagu Lam. (CCL) were prepared in the usual manner, thereafter the agglutination test with various animal blood and the agglutination inhibition test on mouse red blood cells (RBC) with human sera, whole blood, and washed RBC were carried out. The results were as follows ; 1. CCL were reacted on mouse RBC as Pan ?Phytagglutinin. 2. Pan?phytagglutinating activity of CCL on mouse RBC was inhibited by certain human sera, while it was failed to inhibit by others. The distribution of the former was 51% and the latter was 49%, respectively. 3. Pan?phytagglutinating activity of CCL on mouse RBC was inhibited by certain human RBC, while it was failed to inhibit by others. The distribution of the former was 57% and the latter was 43%, respectively. 4. There was no relation to the distribution of CCL?inhibitor in human sera and RBC among ABO blood groups.
